April's Gone

by Allan McKelvie

Its Friday afternoon, which is always nice, and we are about to take off to Bendigo and Swan Hill. A big and a small town respectively in the northern Victorian Hemisphere. There's a mighty big fish in Swan Hill called Murray Cod, and tramps sleep in his mouth. In Bendigo, there used to be gold.

Of course we are heading north to catch up with Jo's family. It will be the first time we have got a good run out of our new motor, the mighty metropolitan-grey Mazda 3 SP23. I'm hanging to test out the cruise control on the undulating roads where many utes struggle to maintain consistency. First stop is Bendigo, where Lisa, Scott and Zac await. Then its off to Swan Hill to see Mez, Jack and the Zuccos.

It's May now and we haven't blogged since March, but I can tell you we didn't get up to much in April. Watched a bit of footy, said goodbye to my folks and prepared for the cold, a bit like a couple of squirrels. If I were a squirrel it would be red as the grey ones are vermin, and I'm no pest unless I have too much shandy.

We have managed to re-establish a pub quiz team, with a successful 2nd place (out of 3) in the first week and last night Andy, Sarah and I achieved a 3rd place (out of 4), so we are obviously a gang to be feared on the quiz scene. Not least for the shear intimidatory impact of our team name - Massive Breaths...

Wedding prep is going well (by that I mean its been on the back burner for a couple of weeks, which is terrific if you ask me!) and Jo is on top of everything as always. I've had a wee bug for the last few weeks but nothing serious, it gave me time to watch some quality soccer over the last month - season's almost over but this is when the best games come up. Like Liverpool v Arsenal a couple of weeks ago, or Barcelona v Real Madrid at the weekend. Breathtaking stuff.

I can't help but feel this has been a somewhat disjointed blog, perhaps because I am feeling under the pump to get my bag packed by the time Jo gets home in about, erm, 2 minutes. On that note, i better get my harris in gear.
